The top-of-the-range PowerShot Pro90 IS boasts
not only a high-performance 10x zoom lens but also Canon's patented Image
Stabilization (IS) Technology, making it a practical choice for advance
digital photographers and commercial users. Delivering 2.6 mega pixel resolution
from a 3.34 mega pixel CCD, it guarantees crystal-clear images with every
shot.

best SLR features with digital photography, guaranteeing professional image
quality.
For ease of operation, the PowerShot Pro90 IS
features a vari-angle LCD monitor, a parallax-free color LCD viewfinder,
extended-life battery and a high-capacity CF card. And the extra
bonus for Canon users is that this camera is compatible with most
PowerShot and EOS accessories, including the EX series Speedlite flash
units.
PowerShot Pro90 IS Features
High Resolution 10x lens with IS
Armed with a 10x zoom 7-70mm lens with Image Stabilizer (IS) (equivalent
to 37 - 370mm in 35-mm format), the PowerShot Pro90 IS guarantees high
resolution and minimum distortion for every shot. With built-in IS,
problems associated with camera shake and blurring are eliminated.
With the 10x zoom lens, the PowerShot Pro90 IS allows you to perform
close-up photography up to 10cm from the subject at the wide-angle end
and 1m at the telephoto end. For ultrazoom, the camera is equipped
with a 10x optical zoom and 4x digital teleconverter, giving a maximum
40x digital zoom, the largest zoom ratio available in a digital camera!*
High Image Quality
The PowerShot Pro90 IS records 1,856 (H) x 1,392 (V) pixels, perfect
for producing stunning professional-quality photographs and postcard-size
prints.
The camera also incorporates auto white balance as well as the usual white balance settings (daylight, cloudy, tungsten, and fluorescent light). Users can also customize individual preferences for white balance and store the settings in the camera's memory.
With Canon's unique RAW mode, image data is recorded to memory from the CCD without any image processing. This ensures that the original quality of the image is preserved.
Full Features
Offering fully automatic function, the PowerShot Pro90 IS nevertheless
also provides manual exposure as one of the exposure control modes.
You may select aperture priority as well as shutter priority from AE modes
to give you better control over depth-of-field, subject motion and brightness.
Also offered are 12 EOS-based picture-taking modes, including Creative Zone modes for manual settings, and Image Zone modes for selecting the mode that best matches the subject. In Auto mode, you can change the recording pixels and JPEG compression ratio to better suit individual requirements.
The PowerShot Pro90 IS can also record a QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) video clip, with audio, at 15 frames per second for up to 30 seconds. The movie can then be played back on the built-in LCD monitor or a TV monitor. The movie is compressed with Motion JPEG and saved as an AVI file.
In addition, with Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB), the camera can be instructed to take three successive shots with slightly different exposure settings in order to obtain the optimum results under the prevailing light conditions. The framing of the picture remains practically the same during this procedure.
Ease of Operation
As with the PowerShot Pro70, the PowerShot Pro90 IS is equipped with
a 1.8-inch vari-angle LCD monitor. This can be rotated according to prevailing
light conditions so you can shoot from the most convenient angle.
New user interfaces include Stacked Mode Dial, Omni Selector and large display panel. To enhance ease of operation, the PowerShot Pro90 IS Main Dial and Mode Dial are stacked on top of each other so that you can quickly set the desired mode or setting. A large display panel is provided to make it easy to check the camera's status at a glance.
The PowerShot Pro90 IS allows video output to be in either NTSC or PAL formats, permitting image playback on TV sets using different systems.
In addition, the newly developed color LCD viewfinder incorporates dioptric
correction, eliminating parallax problems, and the Image Stabilizer effect
is apparent in all shooting conditions.
