The HP No. 10 Black Printhead (C4800A) works with the Hewlett Packard 2000C and 2500C Professional Series Color Printers. The HP No. 10 Black Printhead has an estimated life of 12,000 pages. It also includes a  "smart chip" that works with the HP RealLife Imaging System to monitor printing and automatically warn you when the ink is running low and when the printheads are wearing out. Most HP No. 10 printheads will last 3-4 years, depending on use.

The printer driver will give you a warning if your printhead is about to fail. You will then be able to purchase a replacement printhead before the print quality begins to deteriorate.
